Sam!

Dear JSAer,

The MAS is committed to giving back to the community. At upcoming conventions, we will be hosting several fundraisers for the Embrace Kids Foundation, a New Jersey-based foundation that helps families with children diagnosed with cancer, sickle-cell disease, or other blood disorders.

The money goes to tutoring the pediatric cancer patients in order to keep them up with their school work while receiving treatment, helping the families pay for medical bills, organizing inspirational holiday parties, and hiring translators for those who speak Spanish as their first language.

“Date a Cabinet Member” is what everyone is talking about this Fall State! In this unique fundraiser, JSAers can buy tickets ($3 for one or $5 for two) from Saturday registration until Sunday at breakfast. The winners of the contest will be announced before Sunday lunch, which is when the “dates” will take place. The male candidates are Bryan Matis (MAS Governor), Juan Carlos Melendez-Torres (MAS Director of Debate), and a third mystery other. Christina Rosivack (MAS Lt. Governor), Hallie Mitnick (MAS Director of Logistics), and Christina Pindar (MAS Newspaper Editor-in-Chief) are the female candidates.

Besides “Date a Cabinet Member,” primary fundraiser, there will be also a Penny War like last year and a gift auction similar to the one at last year’s Winter Congress. We are auctioning everything from DVDs to paintings to baked goods to iPods!
The Embrace Kids Foundation is an amazing cause, and I would love for you along with the other JSA members to help us contribute to the less fortunate.
Sincerely,

Samantha Margulies
MAS Director of Community Service
