If you could vote in the upcoming presidential election, who would you vote for? At the Junior State of America’s Presidential Nomination Convention (PNC), we are giving you just that opportunity. Set to take place at Columbia University on February 2nd, this mock election will give JSAers the distinct chance to meet with either actual presidential nominees or their revered proxies, and decide for themselves who they would cast a ballot for. Partaking first hand in the democratic process, individuals will even be able to participate as members of the nominees’ campaign team, promoting their candidate and persuading other JSAers to vote in their favor.

At the end of the convention, JSAers will break off into Democrat and Republican caucuses to officially select their party’s nominee for President of the United States! This amazing activity takes place only once every four years, and is sure to have a lot of media coverage, so don’t miss out! For more information, contact Hallie Mitnick, Director of the Presidential Nominating Convention (bookgirl424@aol.com)!

At the heart of every JSA event are the debates. Usually, though, JSAers can only debate those from their own state or region. The annual Debate Wars conference, however, breaks that monotony and puts the JSAers of two extremely competitive regions in a competitive battle against each other to. The annual Debate Wars is a great event for anyone who wants to not only show off their own personal debating skill, but also how strong the debaters of the New Jersey Region (NJR) is! JSAers accumulate points by speaking, subsequent speaking, or asking questions in debates, and at the end of the conference the points are tallied and a winning regional is announced. Who will win this year? The New Jersey Region? Or the Empire Constitution Region (ECR) of the North East State? Come to support the NJR and show the ECR what JSA debating is really all about!
